Topic: Excited about being here

I'm a 20 year old male living in Northamptonshire, UK. I'm currently studying Countryside Management although I am currently applying to start a degree in Ecology later this year. Am I imagining it or are there quite a few UK users here?

Installing crunchbang felt like coming home. I used a blackbox clone on Windows before I switched to Ubuntu in 2009 and I missed it. I got fed up with the limitations of Unity and GNOME 3. #! has everything I want from a distro; stability, flexibility, simplicity.
I've also been pleasantly surprised by the general atmosphere of the forums, far less hostile than some others I've frequented but also still full of very knowledgeable people.
Look forward to spending time here!

Welcome to #!

I know what you mean about the forum -- I've been on heavily moderated forums that were still less friendly than this one. I guess #! just attracts good people smile

Come in.  Pull up a chair.  Sit down.  Put your feet up.  Make yourself comfy.  Um, oh, hello and welcome.  wink

My formula for living is quite simple. I get up in the morning and I go to bed at night. In between, I occupy myself as best I can.

Lots of people from the UK, USA, EU, Asia, Australia, NZ... basically, everywhere. We're a fun bunch.

Except for decaf-coffee. We hate decaf-coffee! Everything else, we're generally okay with...

Welcome from another New #!er...

Really a lot to like about the responsiveness of this light Debian spinoff. Perhaps though we shouldn't really call #! a spinoff....

Re: Excited about being here

Hey man, welcome home!!

I know exactly what you mean about this distro, and this forum!!

Not quite sure what the key ingredients are to make this place work, but it works really well, so I'm not goin' to complain.

Things I like about this place is......

We don't mind if #! isn't your main distro. We've got people on here who only use it as a secondary, and others who don't even use it at all (but stay for the forum). People here are always tryin' to help, and never judge you for how lacking in knowledge you might be at something, we were all beginners at some point, right? Lastly? No one here flexes their e-peen, you know? There's none of that "My computer is faster so that makes me a better person" crap. It's about designing and, workin' with what you got, and functionality!!

Ugh, too many words. Sorry!!

Again, welcome!! I'm sure you're goin' to enjoy it here. ^_^

If I make people laugh, that makes me pleasant, right?

What if I make people laugh about unpleasant things?
