Try     crunchbox.py
or      /path/to/program/crunchbox.py   if the script is not in your path.
or      ./crunchbox.py     if you're in the folder where the script is

Re: mmm...crunchbox

^ or:

python crunchbox.py

(just to make all the possibilities complete smile )

Does this make any difference to the other methods?

Re: mmm...crunchbox

^ well, i think i read something about it being best to invoke python that way. but in playing with python i haven't really come across different behavior whether i did 'python bla.py' or './bla.py'. so not sure how much of that is true.

the only reason i added it was because you gave 3 different possibilities to accomplish this so i added a 4th. not saying this is better than your suggestions.

Thanks for the explanation. I was just curious... smile

Re: mmm...crunchbox

None of those work hmm

Oh oh... i'm sorry, I didn't install the script, just unpacked it and ran it from that folder, which works fine.

Edit: I just noticed I had the first version, without setup script.
The version that is available now doesn't work for me as well.

Maybe None can help out...

Re: mmm...crunchbox

Awesome little tool, great work ^ ^

All we ever were, just zeroes and ones.

Re: mmm...crunchbox

I can't know what's wrong without errors =/

for now, open the tar file, find the 'src' folder and extract it.

navigate to the src folder you extracted, and do

$ python crunchbox

if you get any errors, let me now.

If you have python 3 installed, you may need to do

$ python2 crunchbox

I tried installing GTK-3 on crunchbang, and it broke a lot of stuff.
So i installed archbang, got gtk3 here, although the settings folder is in ~/gtk-3.0/settings.ini, and not inside the ~/.config  dir. so im not sure what the deal is. still working on this.

such bad times neutral things moving from python2 to python 3 and gtk2 to gtk3 will probably break a lot of things

by the way, anyone know where i can get the statler theme? it is so sexy and archbang's themes are so ugly.

Re: mmm...crunchbox

You can get the older statler themes here:
http://packages.crunchbanglinux.org/sta … 20_all.deb
and the latest one here:
http://packages.crunchbang.org/statler/ … 0.1.tar.gz

Don't install, just unpack, find the themes and copy them.

Re: mmm...crunchbox

ahhh thanks.

Re: mmm...crunchbox

Finally got  a day off, so installed crunchbox and it's working great here.   Very nice.

I'm a git n3wb so I did it thusly (sharing in case I need correction or for the edification of onlookers)

git clone https://github.com/lyrae/crunchbox

and update with

cd ~/crunchbox; git pull

If I am misunderstanding how git works pls advise.

Re: mmm...crunchbox

Assuming you were in your home directory when you did the clone then that looks good to me !

Re: mmm...crunchbox

I used the git method and it works pulling the app in

In the README from the git source, I would advise adding to it so that a git user could find all the info in that README.  This would be ideal as it tells how to start and where to go for help:

README

A themes manager that saves your current programs
themes and easily loads them later. Great for switching
between light and dark themes.

programs supported:
- Openbox
- GTK2 theme and icon theme
- Tint2
- Conky
- Nitrogen

To RUN:

$ cd ~/crunchbox/src
$ python crunchbox

More info and help here:
http://crunchbanglinux.org/forums/topic … crunchbox/

Re: mmm...crunchbox

I get two options opening it ..

Save and About

Save lets me enter a name and saves it .. but to where?

Clicking About does nothing

All this is FYI fodder

it isn't done, so the about button doesn't do anything yet.

It saves in ~/.config/crunchbox.

And thanks for the tip about the README. I will edit it soon. No need to hurry since no one knows about it except you guys smile
