^ Like I said, it's the server problem that's usually the problem, although I have an old engine that'll either get #!ed or Ubuntu-mini-remix. I want to do some stuff in FORTH, so it's a good idea to not run that language on my everyday machine: FORTH can do funny things to the BIOS, etc. It can REALLY make a system go, "CRUNCH-BANG!"
Yeah, I like the Unity DE/Dash: enabled 'super key' as standard; & it installed my printer for me, as soon as I'd plugged it in.
I tried GNOME-shell, but not really impressed.
The main thing I don't like is the lack of Synaptic & Gdebi, although I guess it's aimed at Window$ users who may find the Software Centre more familiar as a way of installing software. I uninstalled Software Centre & Update Manager as soon as I'd installed Synaptic. If the way Ubuntu is going makes Linux more accessible to Window$ers & Mac-users, then that must be a good thing. But, bring back Synaptic into the standard installation, please.
Funnily enough, I seem to get bugs in the Debian Stable base, but not in Unstable-based Ubuntu, although I tend to mess around more with #!, which explains a lot.
