i was really tired when i wrote that comment, so it is likely that i unconsciously took note of your post and added that to mine...
however, Escher did some really cool art - as well as H.R.Giger, although that's a completely different style (think ALIEN).
i would love to see a blend of those - the optical illusions of Escher combined with the dark and monstrous influences by Giger - all in #! style colors.
i think that might give us some really cool wallpapers... "something is lurking in the dark !"

^ Oh, DOOD! - the Giger set was the only thing from Alien that really creeped me out.  Beautiful art, but a terrifying beauty, if that makes any sense.  It was like the Attack of the 50 Foot Hoohahs in there!

now it struck me: i will watch the 2003 director's cut of ridley scott's original ALIEN movie from 1979 tonight.
haven't seen it in years, maybe it brings some fresh ideas... smile
