Topic: There's Hope for Linux Yet...
Hey #!ers,
Been using linux for many years. My first experience was with Red Hat 3 back in '97 and I then moved on to Fedora Core. With the discontinuation of Red Hat and Fedora Core becoming the Fedora Project, I spent the next few years trying many different distro's (I even spent a while using my own custom distro) but they all lacked what I was looking for in an OS. Eventually, in recent years, I started becoming slightly disillusioned with linux and where it seemed to be going.
Without offending anyone, I don't like the direction some of the more "popular" linux distro's such as Ubuntu, Mint and OpenSuse seem to be taking. They've become too big and bloated and dare I say it, almost too "Windowsey".
In my quest for something lighter, simpler and closer to the linux experience I enjoyed years ago, I stumbled upon #! quite by accident. I'm happy to report that there's still hope for linux and thanks to #!, there's light at the end of the tunnel. I've never been more satisfied and impressed with an OS as I have been in the short time I've been using #!. It's like being a young kid at Christmas all over again.
Thanks to everyone who's been involved in the creation of #!. You've given an old linux user hope again.
