Topic: Adobe Flash Unstable - 11.0.1.152

Hello, I've finally moved to #! x64 as my main distro (desktop). I'm having some problems with adobe flash on Opera browser. I'm used to have lots of tabs with flash content (mostly youtube videos). From time to time, flash hangs and the content "disapear", leaving a "white" space.

http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/155/tn_15507.htmlHere, It shows my version is 11.0.1.152, but I guess there is a 11.1.102.55 version for linux. How should I proceed do update it?

Thanks!

Re: Adobe Flash Unstable - 11.0.1.152

Here is the site to download the 64 bit version you need.

Download tar.gz version for Linux and then extract it to

/home/yourusername/.mozilla/plugins

If that directory is not there, create it

Then you will have the latest installed after you restart FF or Iceweasel

Re: Adobe Flash Unstable - 11.0.1.152

Thanks for the quick reply, VastOne.
The other directory you must change libflashplayer.so is /usr/lib/flash-64 (as root).

Now Opera shows the new version, but it doesn't fix the error. Any other idea? On the official opera forum there are lots of people with the same errors http://my.opera.com/community/forums/to … id=1135232

Re: Adobe Flash Unstable - 11.0.1.152

Can/did you verify that it is the new plugin that is loaded?

I do not use Opera but in FF you can do a

about:config as the url

The version would read

Shockwave Flash 11.1 r102

Re: Adobe Flash Unstable - 11.0.1.152

Yes, I'm using the last version, but i't still hangs when flash is used on multiple tabs.

Re: Adobe Flash Unstable - 11.0.1.152

Try using the flashblock script, it blocks the flash files to play until you tell them to (http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/45343).

Maybe oppening so many tabs with flash is what causes the error (?)

Re: Adobe Flash Unstable - 11.0.1.152

Maybe you have to remove the old Flash you were using previously.

Also you could try to install the Flash Player Mozilla thing from Multimedia, that is what I prefer. It updates itself also when a newer version comes.

Oh VastOne ... you are in fact vast n one and if it's that easy officially one of my new favorite people. wink

Personally despise adobe flashplayer, it beats me up all the time and sorting it out or trying to figure out a good way around it has caused many a headache or butt pain. Atm #! is running too well, so am not going to mess with adobe's curse, lol. Haven't borked crunchbang in awhile ... I'm overdue for borkage, so gonna leave well enough alone. One of these dys will have to manually update adobe FP though.

The dread, oh da feelins of dread ! D: Shouldn't be that tough and probably isn't. Will try VastOne's approach sometime. Have seen many the how to online, many made it sound like chinese rocket science. So haven't worked up the nerve. Raname old file this, do that, run xybcd this etc ! Would like to get around to updating to a newer version of FP eventually though. The older one is still working fine for me atm.

Come on html5 and the death of adobe FP !!!

vll ! folks ...

Some common cbiz abbreviations. This will save me time and yet @ same time tell folks what the babble is supposed to mean.

Vll ! = ( Viva la gnu/Linux !)    Vl#!! = ( Viva la #! !)    Last but not least, UD ... OD ! = ( Use Debian ... or die !) tongue
