Topic: No Foxit for 64-bit Linux?

Is this really the case or is just hiding from me when I visit Foxit's web?

Re: No Foxit for 64-bit Linux?

If is was really free you could just simply compile it and fix that problem, anyway 32-bit programs work on 64-bit don't they? If you really need a 64-bit pdf viewer, why not consider evince, or xpdf, or several other programs that were already free and made for *nix systems...

^ +1. I use ePDFViewer. It is just Evince but without the Gnome bloat.

Another vote for epdfview, didn't like the way evince looked after an update, and found epdfview.

Re: No Foxit for 64-bit Linux?

+1 for epdfview. If you like vi-type bindings zathura is also pretty cool.

+1 and another vote for ePDFViewer.  Light and effective, perfection

Re: No Foxit for 64-bit Linux?

Me, too.  Been using it for about four, maybe five months without any issues.  It's in the repositories, too.

Re: No Foxit for 64-bit Linux?

1) I tried to install the 32-bit deb but it failed.

2) Sure I make do with what is on offer including MuPDF but font rendering isn't quite as good as the non-open-source alternatives. It is not a catastrophy but sometimes I want to check out what I work on will look like for others whithout having to fire up Mendeley which is really a PDF data base tool and a bit of a heavy thing to start.

With ePDFViewer, you mean ePDFView ?
I prefer Evince. I'm missing the page border in ePDFView.

Re: No Foxit for 64-bit Linux?

^ Yes. Interestingly in my Xfce menu, German layout, I have there ePDFViewer as entry.

Re: No Foxit for 64-bit Linux?

^ On the American English one, too.

Re: No Foxit for 64-bit Linux?

^ Makes sense as it is a PDF viewer. smile

Re: No Foxit for 64-bit Linux?

Could be maybe a typo or whatever the guys did.

Re: No Foxit for 64-bit Linux?

^Most likely in a .desktop file.

Re: No Foxit for 64-bit Linux?

I can't get away from evince, because I can't live without inverted colours.
Which I think epdfview doesn't have.

Re: No Foxit for 64-bit Linux?

I don't wanna switch from Evince, thank you very much. I've always found it to be the best PDF reader around. I mean, ever since i tried it, there was a time long ago when I used Acrobat Reader and stuff.

Re: No Foxit for 64-bit Linux?

Yeah amazing how much better all the Linux PDF viewers are than Acrobat - the latest windows versions are just so lame, and don't start me on the ribbon toolbar in Office, Outlook etc.
