Topic: Hello world of #!

Hello future troubleshooters, this is what I write like.

I just bought a new 2TB hard drive for my system and am planning on experimenting with a lot of different Linux distros, #! being one of them. So far I've got Linux Mint 9(which I've loved in the past, so it's sort of my "known good"), Linux Mint 12(to see what's new), #! 10(a friend of mine had it and it looked interesting), and openSUSE 12.1(saw it as a new release on distrowatch).

I'm glad to be a part of this community and I've enjoyed reading a few threads here.

Welcome to #! You will want to check out the distro-hoppers anonymous and your "other" distro threads.

As for others to try, may I recommend Viperr (a fedora base with #! look) and Puppy (always handy to have around on a USB stick when you mess up your main install from too much hopping) smile

And install Arch at least once in your life, just so you can say it's not that hard...

2TB's !?!?! Yowza! ... hdd that big you could go ahead and install every gnu/nix distro known to humanity and still have plenty of room for other stuff. wink

Some common cbiz abbreviations. This will save me time and yet @ same time tell folks what the babble is supposed to mean.

I will definitely check out those threads and other distros, 2manydogs. Thanks for the recommendations! How many dogs do you have? My parents have 8 cats and a (crazy; Vizla) dog and they're currently taking care of a neighbor's cat as well.

2TB kind of threw me for a loop when I found it as well. It wasn't too badly priced at $130, though.

hi NoOutlet, welcome to the community! please be aware that it is not required for you to actually be running #! linux in order to be part of this community. so if you enjoy hanging out here even though you are running a different distro, please do!

The chinch has been loose and the cats leave her alone (too big to be prey, and she could kick their ass, and they know it) -- the chickens are outside and the cats are inside; but agreed it is a lot to handle smile

The cats are quite a good deal of trouble for my mom because she insists on feeding them all on a raw food diet which basically means that she orders large amounts of raw meat, grinds it herself, adds a few vitamins that cats need and weighs out exact portions for each cat.

Can't  really help with the cats though.. my cats all eat a prescription diet because one had a prolem once... (is it signicant that my avatar is a cat?)
