Topic: Everything is On Topic Here

This is the 'it's off topic somewhere else thread'.

Where comments that are off topic on another thread can be posted ... carried on for a bit and then ended when answered/interest is lost -- whatever.

It could possibly have half a dozen or more things things going on at the same time.

And because it's off topic someplace else - it's On Topic here.

Thanks for posting the "Hobbit House" screen background here the other day Sector11. I quickly found the brilliant site that it came from. smile

Never saw that site before, I found by: Google "Hobbit" > Image - it's the second one. Clicked on more sizes and ended up here:

But yea, same house ... I want it

The site is really well worth reading, the content cuts right down to it, very intelligently put together.

I'll stop this now. smile

Actually I think I am going to read both of those sites.  It's an excellent house even if a bit rich for my wallet.  I¿d love to own one.  I have a few Hobbit houses as wall papers ... mostly from the LOTR movies.

If you are only knee high to a grasshopper your lower centre of gravity may be helpful...

At least your furry little toes wouldn't get cold.

I read a great book back in the 70's called "Bored of the Rings" by the Harvard Lampoon. It started out brilliantly but they couldn't keep that standard for the whole book. Which was probably about a 300 page standard paperback.

If you search for it you'd likely find it 2nd hand at Amazon. Well worth a read.

Lets see handy hands falldown a PDF copy of Bored of The Rings, and falldown immediately trips over his own feet in excitement.

Quick to help falldown back up, I slip the ring from his pocket and head to the back room.

"Mine, all mine, my precious!"

I'm only at the beginning - page 8 - I have trouble reading it on the screen.

Re: Everything is On Topic Here

That's cool.  I'd read this spoof when it first came out and had forgotten about it.  Thanks to everyone involved in resurrecting it.  One of the authors was Doug Kinney, long-time National Lampoon editor.

Kenney had a small role in Animal House as the fraternity brother called "Stork," whose only line of dialogue was the combative "Well, whut the hail we s'posed to do, yuh mo-ron?" Produced quickly on a small budget, National Lampoon's Animal House was, until Ghostbusters, the most profitable Hollywood comedy.

FROM THIS -- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Douglas_Kenney

EDIT -- spelled out a word or two instaed of abbreviating them

My formula for living is quite simple. I get up in the morning and I go to bed at night. In between, I occupy myself as best I can.

National Lampoon was a GREAT magazine.  I say was because, it's not here, is it still being published?.  And Animal House is a classic!

And just as a side note: Bored of the Rings (video game) - I missed that one.  I had a C-64 then too. BUMMER

Re: Everything is On Topic Here

Thanks for finding that Sector11, I'll enjoy reading it again.

You could print it out if you don't like reading it on the screen. I always enlarge the display of .pdf or whatever else to make it as easy as possible on my eyes.

Speaking of National Lampoon and Animal House, I found this http://www.denimexpress.com/classic-tees-116.html while searching for denim jackets on sale and thought someone here may appreciate the humor in the tee shirt.  smile

^^ Because all caps is considered SHOUTING.

^ Yes, punctuation is considered capital letters, including periods, commas, and all other non-alpha characters.  Don't know about numbers though...

Yea, I know that, from my SysOp days running a WildCat BBS

But it struck me as funny, and since the subject is: Everything is On Topic Here...  I was just having a bit of fun ... that's why back to back posts and the second post had NO caps.  big_smile
