Topic: All network access gone

Hi,

half a year ago or so I recieved help on accessing my schools eduroam wireless network. As part of that, the network manager was uninstalled and everything has been working fine. When I needed network access (non wireless)  not at my school I ensured wireless was off before bootup and did

dhclient -r
sudo dhclient eth0

from the commandline. Afterwards I entered username and password for my LAN in the building I live in. All this has worked until a few days ago. I have made no deliberate changes to my system. Neither the wireless nor the LAN networking works. For example when I do 

dhclient -r
sudo dhclient eth0

the second command will take a long time to finish without any error messages, but there will be no access to the net.

With the wireless, ifconfig shows the accesspoint as appearing and available. What log files do I startout with studying to find out what is wrong ?

Start with the dmesg command as in this post http://crunchbanglinux.org/forums/post/186775/#p186775. Plus the output of the 2 commands mentioned in the next post from that thread.

In your case, try the dmesg command after entering the 2 dhclient commands you posted above.
