Topic: Xfce Power Manager Not Properly Controlling Screen

Seems the Xfce Power Manager isn't controlling my screen like I have it set. I have it set for 30/35 minutes for sleep/power off while on AC and 5/10 minutes for sleep/power off on battery... but it isn't turning the screen off at all.

I checked out Xscreensaver and I set that to never black the screen, as I wanted Xfce Power Manager to take care of my screen entirely.

On another note, I have Xfce Power Manager set to hibernate my system when the lid is closed while on battery power... and it's not doing that either.

Re: Xfce Power Manager Not Properly Controlling Screen

Xfce 4.6 has some issues with the power manager.

Could you maybe try with a newer kernel also, there are plenty to choose from backports, even the newest 3.2.

Also xscreensaver has to run, that is one of the issues on Xfce 4.6 to make the power management settings to work. Not the screensaver itself but the program in the background. You could look in taskmanager or in top if xscreensaver is running, if not, start it from the terminal and test the power management settings you applied. Afterwards you have to put xscreensaver in your autostart config.
