Topic: Pulse Audio?

I don't think #! has Pulse Audio, does it?

I don't see it after a "ps aux"

I don't see it in the services thingymajig...

Well, anyway:

I'm conducting a poll to see if PulseAudio is working for people, because I wanted a global EQ, and was told "already in pulseaudio", when pulseaudio doesn't work for a large number of people.

Re: Pulse Audio?

as far as I know pulse isn't in #!, on my other machines I haven't had to many issues with pulse and it does fix some stuff(mainly audio with flash) but when things go wrong they can be hard to troubleshoot. Possibly because pulse is still pretty new.

I say never be complete, I say stop being perfect, I say lets evolve, let the chips fall where they may.

Re: Pulse Audio?

Not having pulse audio was one of the things that originally drew me to #!crunchbang. We're better off without it until it matures and is without the headaches it causes some people now.

@Mehall: I think you're question has been answered by the previous posters

I'm actually using PulseAudio, and I can only affirm, that PulseAudio isn't very mature, altough I like it more than ALSA, because it's more innovative. It's stable enough if you're like listening to music and watching movies, but there's still a lot of work to do.

Re: Pulse Audio?

Whoa serious? I use pulseaudio every day on my !#'d aspire one and my (gentoo) server.

I even stream audio out of any app on my laptop to the usb dac/stereo attached to the server.

I love PA and have very few issues with it.

Re: Pulse Audio?

Personally I agree w/ omns.  PA has given me headaches in the past.  I prefer to wait abit (for it to mature).  E.g., PA gave me problem on Mandriva
(on the eee even though Mandriva was designed for the eee).

I don't see much advantage of running PA and I prefer a lighter system w/ less things running (under the hood).

Re: Pulse Audio?

i'm excited about the future of pulse audio, but it also gave me problems when i had mandriva installed a couple days ago.

Re: Pulse Audio?

I have two soundcards and after unsuccessfully trying a few fixes to get them going started distro hopping like mad for a year to get them to work Thus far only ubuntustudio and mandriva have made any noise (not #!...yet) which all use pulseaudio.

Re: Pulse Audio?

I have to say I have nothing but trouble with pulse audio on my desktop PC. It might be usable in distant future, but now I take alsa anytime!
