Because there's so many services running on that system. So trim down services you think you don't need.

Ie. Do you need avahi daemon? Are you running bittorrent tracker or what is transmission-da (it executes find which is quite disk intensive)? And so on...

I think I removed the bluetoothd (I enter on terminal bluethoothd -n) but made no difference on boot time...

I realize this post is old, but there are PATA SSD drives for laptops.
I know because I have one in my Thinkpad.
