Dear ADcomp
Nice to see you back!!!
Looks beautiful as ever.
From the screenshots I gather this is a xfce version.
Will you provide a OPENBOX version too?
This is not only a quesion, but much more a request...
Secondly this is build on Ubuntu.
Have you been considering about making the switch to Debian??
There is a different question I want to ask you; put it on your site:
In a screencast on madbox/slitaz I saw a demo of ADmedia, an simple interface for using media files.
I couldn't find it as a standalone app. Is it available somewhere as a standalone app?

Look closer - on the left side of screenshot there is opened window - openbox config (I asume obconf) which is rather useless for XFCE
So it seems that at least at this screenshot WM is openbox ![]()
Hello everybody .. ty for comment ![]()

yes .. long time

no , it's openbox , only openbox .. no more Xfce ![]()

I already use Debian .. but not for madbox. no switch

It's epMedia (using Python and PyGame) .. but no more developed ( since Sep 30, 2006 )
You can't find it anymore but I have a backup : http://www.ad-comp.be/public/divers/epmedia.tar.bz2
Bye
Thanks ADcomp for the good news (madbox on openbox) and for the download link of epmedia.
The next madbox experience is something to be enjoyed, I trust!!
And klanger, you're right of course; stupid, I seem to have missed this screenshot...
@ADcomp: please forgive my impatience, can you give an estimate when the ISOs will be ready?
In fact I ll say nothing... :-)

Too late - i heard you... ![]()
Hello,

I'm surely interested in that iso. Just a remark: in case you stick with the old pcmanfm, you might want to integrate this bugfixed version here: http://forums.debian.net/viewtopic.php? 10#p295888 .
Works also in detailed view on my custom lubuntu 10.04 installation. ![]()
Burned it and will give it a try...
Edit: What was really impressive that this is the first time on a live cd that this Nvidia graqphic card works out of the box in the good resolution 1920x1200.
That's nice; Stadler didn't mange to do that.
Have to swallow seeing the ubuntu splash screen, for more than one reason I want to turn away from Ububtu.
But that says nothing on the qualities of this remix of course.
I find Firefox a lot slower than the Naurama I use in Arch; but this is a live cd of course so I will have to do an install to compare fairly.
I find the font rendering unsatisfactory; something I already noticed on the screenshots.
It is not as sharp as it should be, a bit blurred and too much shadow..
Also, I'm sorry to say I find the theme a lot less estethically pleasing than the Madbox theme 9.10, which I consider to be the most beautiful around; not every change is a change to the better; but of course this will be always a matter of taste. I would be nice though if you provided the old madbox theme as an option.
I miss geany that I discovered in Madbox 9.10
Pcmanfm does not seem to have the same issues as it has in Arch, where is has become pretty unusable at the moment.
Terminator is the terminal app.
Lxappaerance is installed but not in the right click menu, but you will find it in Adeskbar.
I miss dmenu; should be there I think.
What I like is that there are not too much apps installed, no office apps except epdfviewer.
The only graphic app is mirage, a very nice app that I used all the time before I moved to ristretto.
The media center program xbmc is on the the disk and looks very slick and polished; had problems using the mouse and keyboard there, too much delay and too unresponsive.
Maybe you can[t use this in a live session.

yeah .. don't have time to make a custom plymouth theme. And you can't remove plymouth ![]()

I can investigate how to do it and whip something up as soon as I find the time...

I thought, pcmanfm in arch should work, since the bugfixed deb version i posted above is based on this guys fix:

Same here (mouse not usable) even on hd-install... ![]()
xbmc works fine on my netbook ( acer aspire one with intel mobile 945GME ) .. but not usable on my desktop with nvidia GeForce 8400 ( open-source driver "Nouveau" ). You need to install non-free driver ![]()

Geforce 6200 here and non-free nvidia-driver not yet installed... So thats the problem... ![]()
Xbmc works correctly with nvidia drivers; thanks for offering the solution.
How do you remove 'madbox'as user again at login?
How do you autologin?
Logout works fine but shutdown is not working out of the box after install.
@ pablokal :
like madbox 9.10 .. modify /etc/slim.conf , line 68 : replace "madbox" with your username
default_user madboxreboot / shutdown should work .. ![]()
Last edited by ADcomp (2010-05-25 14:17:35)
reboot / shutdown should work ..
If not, add this line to etc/sudoers:
user ALL=NOPASSWD: /sbin/shutdown -h now, /sbin/reboot
Replace "user" with your real username.
Meanwhile I do this automatically, if shutdown/reboot does not work - and i think, i did this also on the new madbox because of those problems.
reboot / shutdown bug :
I already modify /etc/sudoers but during install , Ubiquity add these lines
# Members of the admin group may gain root privileges
%admin ALL=(ALL) ALLand override this :
ALL ALL = NOPASSWD: /sbin/shutdown![]()
