Topic: How to get OSD on the Eeepc?

I'm wondering what everyone has done in 9.04 to get an OSD for volume control.

I have none and I can't get one with Eeeasy scripts. I've spent nearly 6 hours trying to get this to work. Can anyone give instructions or point me in the direction of decent instructions for getting it to work?

Or, just tell me if having an OSD like we did in 8.10 is not possible.

I just don't understand why we can't have a simple-to-setup, nice-looking OSD like in 8.10 (with Elmurato scripts), just nothing I do seems to work on the new version.

If the Eeeasy scripts aren't giving you OSD, then its probably not possible. Though I could be wrong.

Edit: see if this helps:

Re: How to get OSD on the Eeepc?

Elmurato has said that he removed volume OSD from the Eeeasy scripts because he likes the Gnome ones better. So I guess openbox users just have to miss out.

I'll take a look into that link you posted, but I think at this point, if you use openbox you don't get a volume OSD.

I posted this already on eeeuser forum, but I think that Ubuntu's inclusion of netbook support is wreaking havoc on the eeepc. Community efforts seem to be lessened because Ubuntu already implemented their own support for netbooks, but Ubuntu's support is very generic and not that good.

It's a shame because everyone using Ubuntu will say "Oh, this is nice", but everyone using openbox or fluxbox is going to be left with missing features, and since the people developing scripts that fixed these things in the past are using Ubuntu, they don't have a need to fix it.

Same here (901) - only OSD's i get is for changing FSB and Network-Start. Sticking to 9.04 just because of the speed increase...
