Topic: Weird problem with desktops in openbox

I'm running karmic right now with a basic copy of #! settings(the 9.04 install script screws up the install right now). When I log in only one desktop is created even though I have it set for three. If I use kdm instead of gdm the correct number of desktops are there, but my fonts aren't set up correctly. Anyone have any insight on what might be causing this or how to troubleshoot it?

I say never be complete, I say stop being perfect, I say lets evolve, let the chips fall where they may.

I'm having this same issue after the upgrade. Decreasing or increasing desktops in obconf fixes it immediately but it's reset on login.

Re: Weird problem with desktops in openbox

Well I'm using compiz as wm instead of openbox now, so I can't help much. The only way to fix it I found was to switch to a different login manager...

Re: Weird problem with desktops in openbox

Actually I nuked and paved the ATI fglrx drivers rebooted, and reinstalled the fglrx drivers and amdcccle via apt from Karmic and everything is golden now. cool

scratch that, the above didnt fix it disabling gdm however did by adding replacing:

quiet splash

with

text

in /boot/grub/menu.lst
