I suppose we could begin to explore the "legal" ramifications of "intellectual property" and how it should be both managed and/or moderated on this, or any other forum/website, but to what end? The internet and the laws governing it are tenuous at best, and this, I feel, makes the whole situation a difficult matter, in principle at least. At any rate, if you were to argue a position concerning intellectual property, you'd have to not only consider the creator of said post, but also the contributors to the post. You could argue that it's those who provide assistance through their participation who are the ones truly providing "intellectual property". Still, to what end?
Though I hadn't signed up as a member at the time rigosantana3 was active, I was a lurker, and during that period was quite aware of both his spamming and questionable post content. I was neither directly affected by his overposting, nor offended by his content/comments, but that's just me. What was obvious was that he was not acting in the spirit of community and/or family. Yes, I know that a few of you didn't mind him. Others rather enjoyed how he "shook this place up" a bit. In moderation, that's all well in good, perhaps even beneficial. But despite his infrequent positive contribution to the site, he was by and large a distraction and negative influence to the community as a whole. I believe we could have accepted rigosantana3 as a mild agitator who made the forums interesting and entertaining from time to time, but again, that would have meant an effort on his part to be both more respectful and considerate to the community. It didn't happen then, and I know it wouldn't happen now. Online forums are some of the most wonderful places on the internet to find and share information, but my experience in a few has also led me to conclude that it can also be a breeding ground for unfettered abuse. Moderation is necessary, and I believe that the actions taken by the caretakers of this site were both warranted and justified. I'm also certain that the better part of this community would agree.
So thanks for all the good work mods, and thanks for all of you who are active participants on the site
