But this forum has more life with him..

I cannot argue with that.

I'm going to argue with it - Rigo gave these forums no life, just mindless spam, defamatory comments towards its members and endless headaches to the mods.  He had more than enough chances to mend his ways, but could not see past his own arrogance!

As most of our users agree, these forums are family friendly and community based, and we would like to see them stay that way.

My life has certainly improved since Rigo left - I am now headache free and Philip doesn't have to listen to my outbreak of Tourette's that one of Rigo's posts usually invoked! lol

Wow. I get the feeling that I missed either something unbelievably entertaining, or just plain awful.

I guess I could try and fill the spam and defamatory comment void!

... um... er... uh... Somebody smells like poop!

Sorry. I never was very good at this. Please, carry on.

What I ment is to unbanned rigo, give man second chance to be constructive member of comunity, and if he become spam agressive, then bann him.

What most people don't know is that the final ban wasn't applied for spamming. This was being managed and certainly countless 'second chances' and warnings were given. The final ban was applied for unfettered destruction of forum content with approx 200 forum posts being deleted by this member. This included complete threads that contained useful information for other members which is why ordinary members can no longer delete their own posts. This sort of behaviour is not tolerated and not welcome.

Banning a member is the last thing that anyone wants to do, especially in an open and caring community like this one. It was not a decision taken lightly and only applied after lengthy discussion and debate. As a staff our final decisions must be made in the best interests of the 'whole' community. I believe that principle was applied fairly in this case.

Well, this is a legal question. Under wich lincence am I posting here? Is this still my intellectual property? If there is no disclaimer giving the "board" an unlimited right to use the posted contents, I have an explicit right to delete my stuff. But, cownose the cat, I was joking and I am fully aware of what happened. And, in addition, if I need mayhem, I go to /b/*.

Now I need to ban someone... *bans someone*

Re: Question about UK: Trouble n' strife, Phillip

I suppose we could begin to explore the "legal" ramifications of "intellectual property" and how it should be both managed and/or moderated on this, or any other forum/website, but to what end? The internet and the laws governing it are tenuous at best, and this, I feel, makes the whole situation a difficult matter, in principle at least. At any rate, if you were to argue a position concerning intellectual property, you'd have to not only consider the creator of said post, but also the contributors to the post. You could argue that it's those who provide assistance through their participation who are the ones truly providing "intellectual property". Still, to what end?

Though I hadn't signed up as a member at the time rigosantana3 was active, I was a lurker, and during that period was quite aware of both his spamming and questionable post content. I was neither directly affected by his overposting, nor offended by his content/comments, but that's just me. What was obvious was that he was not acting in the spirit of community and/or family. Yes, I know that a few of you didn't mind him. Others rather enjoyed how he "shook this place up" a bit. In moderation, that's all well in good, perhaps even beneficial. But despite his infrequent positive contribution to the site, he was by and large a distraction and negative influence to the community as a whole. I believe we could have accepted rigosantana3 as a mild agitator who made the forums interesting and entertaining from time to time, but again, that would have meant an effort on his part to be both more respectful and considerate to the community. It didn't happen then, and I know it wouldn't happen now. Online forums are some of the most wonderful places on the internet to find and share information, but my experience in a few has also led me to conclude that it can also be a breeding ground for unfettered abuse. Moderation is necessary, and I believe that the actions taken by the caretakers of this site were both warranted and justified. I'm also certain that the better part of this community would agree.

So thanks for all the good work mods, and thanks for all of you who are active participants on the site smile

Re: Question about UK: Trouble n' strife, Phillip

It's a shame 99% of the posters had no inkling of the bad stuff Ringo was up to. A depressing indication of how far a long neck can get you, especially on the Internet. IgorP, you were posting frequently during Ringo's 'high' point but you had no clue. Anonymous was posting frequently since he joined up but had no clue - then, as now, you offered encouragement. It was generally a pathetic show from the moderators. The only folks that had an inkling what was going on are probably not reading this.

Toolz,

?! I don't understand you really.. neutral

Re: Question about UK: Trouble n' strife, Phillip

i'll give you a clue:  i wasn't talking about emergency numbers, digital tv or even tea. no need to be discussing ringo and therefore you're not missing much, get over it.

Re: Question about UK: Trouble n' strife, Phillip

Ok, that's enough conspiracy theories about a subject that has long since past and been dealt with. I don't see this thread leading anywhere that will be constructive or healthy for the future of these forums. Thread closed.
