Topic: power button causes power manager to crash

Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe the battery icon in the tray is the gnome-power-manager

I tried setting it to "ask me" when pressing the power button

However, when I have it set to this, and press the power button, it crashes.

I think this is because it is attempting to call the gnome logout script and not the openbox one.

Is there a way to fix this?

Hello enricong smile

Thank you for reporting this. I will look into it.

Re: power button causes power manager to crash

I can report that this is the same behavior as my eee1000 crunchbang 8.10.1 full installed.

Found a bug at https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=203289

Tried

gnome-power-manager --verbose --no-daemon
...
 - Unable to connect to Session manager over DBus.
TI:05:37:52 TH:0x9a25640 FI:gpm-manager.c FN:manager_policy_do,546
 - Couldn't ask for interactive dialog from session manager over DBus, trying XSMP

Turns out to be an older bug with no resolution. It did point me to a new very interesting command

lshal -m

Took a quick look in https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gn … ager/+bugs and nothing jumped out, although there are quite a number of confusing bugs reported against the gnome-power-manager.
This is likely and acpi issue.
