Topic: unetbootbin alternative

http://www.linuxliveusb.com/

Runs on windows.

Allows you to create a live + persistent usb key.
Furthermore, the same installation can be run directly via virtualbox on Windows (virtualbox is made portable).

From the homepage:
"For you, i will install and configure any of these Linux Distributions : Ubuntu, Fedora, CrunchBang, Mint, Kuki and many others to come so try me out !
I can run these Linux directly in Windows using a state of the art virtualization software : VirtualBox 3.0. "

Just performing a test now.

"you're"

it looks like it's based on liveusb creator. that's a fedora project but there are a few derivatives in existence.

Re: unetbootbin alternative

I think there is a usb creator in Ubuntu.

Running Crunchbang on eee pc 701 and Dell Mini 10v.

Re: unetbootbin alternative

There is Craigh and it works well for Crunchbang.

Re: unetbootbin alternative

dd if=/location/of/iso of=/dev/"USB device"
It won't add it's own bootloader, but who needs that anyway?

EDIT: Oh, #! mentioned. Nice.

Re: unetbootbin alternative

Right now, virtual box from windows works flawlessly, and usbboot is running well.

This let me run updates without forcing me to reboot to usb.

Haven't tried (yet) to make Virtualbox run from within a running linux box.
