Topic: AppArmor - Fail after kernel update

On boot up I get the message indicating a nasty 'fail' for AppArmor. This seems to occur after upgrading the kernel - whatever the distro.

Should I be bothered? Any way to stop it failing? If not, should I remove?

Re: AppArmor - Fail after kernel update

Had the same issue and removed it, no probs until now.
Might be a security risk, however, as AppArmor seems somehow to restrict what an application can do on your machine (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apparmor), e.g. not letting your firefox format your harddrive or something like this ...
SO DO IT AT YOUR OWN RISK !!! wink

Re: AppArmor - Fail after kernel update

not sure if this is the reason because they were *supposed* to fix this... but... patch for Ubuntu 9.04 got this working for me with the same issue:

'security=apparmor' should be appended to kernel line in menu.lst, after boot you can check enabled/disabled status as # sudo apparmor_status

^^Edit: i think what it probably says right now if this is what it is, is something along the lines of apparmor_enabled=1 or something like that. if so, you should remove that when adding the 'security=apparmor' as a fix...
