The configuration could not be loaded
You are not allowed to access the system configuration.

This is interesting....................................................since it's my damn system!!!

I'm about ready to go back to Windows..........where everything makes more sense.

Can anyone tell me how I CAN get access to....well....just about everything in the System menu

I wanted to figure out how to automatically connect to the internet without having to enter a key every time I log in

Failed to run synaptic as user root.
The underlying authorization mechanism (sudo) does not allow you to run this program. Contact the system administrator.

It would appear that there are some major problems with this distribution since I could do all of these things yesterday

What did you do to your system before you had these problems?
