Topic: replace wget

I'm not sure how wget accelerates download, dl rate using wget doesnt improve (much) compared to firefox default. Its man page is un-intuitive.

I suggest aria2 to replace wget since aria2c is much faster, easier to use, helpful man page and has more functions (support more protocols). aria2 can even replace rtorrent also.

Re: replace wget

if so you cant replace it but you can install in addition to

#! install guide           *autostart programs, modify the menu & keybindings
configuring Conky       *installing scripts

Re: replace wget

wget doesn't accelerate downloads, you can use multiget for sites with mirrors. I'll take a look at aria again.

I say never be complete, I say stop being perfect, I say lets evolve, let the chips fall where they may.

Re: replace wget

I don't think you quite understand wget's position in the open source pantheon. It's not a download accelerator; it's a downloader. A million howtos, scripts, and wikis would scream out in pain if it wasn't there.
