Topic: Using the eeepc's webcam to it's full potential: ucview

For those with an eeepc: Most users of the eeepc in combination with linux install cheese to use their webcam, most users however do not know that there is a much better alternative: ucview.

It achieves a way higher framerate than cheese and allows options such as changing the resolution of the webcam and brightness/contrast/color functions.

Re: Using the eeepc's webcam to it's full potential: ucview

Just to note, this isn't just EeePCs, its any device which uses the uvcvideo driver. Most new webcams are USB Video Class devices (or uvc) so anyone with a newer webcam will find this useful, including people with the Dell inbuilt cams.

Poked around unicap's website and I see that this project is a little less than user-friendly. Old Ubuntu repo with confusing instructions, library source separate from application source, unclear dependencies for both.

peterrus or Andrew, if either of you have installed this and can give just a little more guidance as to how to install and the pitfalls, that would be great.
