Topic: Inkscape on a small screen (with noob-friendly instructions)
The current stable release of Inkscape has very inflexible menus, meaning that on my netbook's tiny (1024x600) display, the bottom of the application is forced offscreen. I could detach the left hand menu bar and make everything accessible, but it was an ugly and awkward solution.
The new dev builds have fixed this problem. Before yesterday you had to compile yourself, but now you just have to add the repository to your sources.list (In Synaptic: Settings > Repositories - Third Party Software tab, add the line below):
deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/inkscape-nightly/ubuntu intrepid main Then:
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install inkscape-develShould give you a perfectly usable menu.
Better still, the option to use smaller icons works! ![]()
I've discovered no bugs yet, but I haven't been using it long. Will report any issues here.
