Topic: dist-upgrade and the update manager (prevent breaking crunchbang)

Hello,

I like the update-notifier that comes by default with ubuntu so I enabled it and am quite happy with it. It does however also notify you of dist-upgrades (in this case to 9.10). That might just tempt a lot of people into dist-upgrading, which surely isn't a good idea as in my case (if not everyone using crunchbang) it breaks my installation.

So, wouldn't be a good idea to disable notification of new distribution releases by default?

Since the notifier isn't included in #!, the default setting for it cannot be changed.
