Topic: most impressed i've been with a lightweight distro

Hey, it's good to be a part of this effort, and you'll probably hear a lot from me in the future. big_smile

I started with CrunchBang yesterday, and I have to admit, it's not only one of the fastest distros I've used, it's also one of the cleanest, most stable, and most "tweakable". It doesn't matter what I do, I can't get it to use more than about 256 MB of ram!

Nice job on choosing Ubuntu as a base. They have packages for most everything.

As for suggestions, I was going to say something about the speed of the live cd, but that's faster than most even on my hardware. Then I thought I might as well say something about the appearance, but that can be tweaked. With a name like CrunchBang and the logo, it's obvious who you're catering to as a GNU/Linux distro... it takes some experience to recognize the significance.

That being said, I'm thinking of putting it on quite a few computers, maybe even my EeePC that I'm getting this Christmas. CrunchEee is my new little friend.

And after all this, you'd think I'd have some criticism... hmm... get some more wallpapers, these default ones are cool.

hehe, try virtualbox + windows xp or any other distro in it smile

I'm sure you'll pass through the 256MB line... wink
