Topic: Crunchbang irresistable to Factory Records fans?

Just what grabbed me at first about this minimalism here is the similarity some factory records product of he 80's. Thinking unknown pleasures and their ep covers. Anyone else run on with that theme?

thanks for the reminder, i had unknown pleasures cover (FAC10 ?) as my wallpaper many moons ago.

they had some amazing album art, as well as posters etc, lets not even start on the music smile.
most of the best stuff was from new order/joy division or durutti column tho, most of the posters were quite industrial, and not very #!'y and most of the albums were very busy.

fun fact: blue monday by new order was the biggest selling 12 inch single of all time, but due to the production cost of the sleeve (last graphic on previous post), factory lost money on every single copy sold.

I have Blue Monday on vinyl (I used to be a club DJ)... never played it (was more of a keepsake)

I have to somewhat agree with benji on this. Most FAC album covers weren't exactly minimalist.
I personally feel that #! (and the majority of Openbox themes in general) is more suited to a minimal-industrial or minimal-techno sort of look (straight lines, matte colour-palette... a very graphite-like or carbon look, lots of negative space.... sort of like the 4th image of the floppy, but without the technicolor on the sides)

....but that's just my personal preference, I guess.
I won't go criticizing people for having a Powerpuff-Girls wallpaper combined with the Dark-Dyne theme if it works for them.

personally i think the technicolor blocks could work quite well if done correctly, something on conky and on drop down menus/button highlights or something.
i do agree #! has a minimal look, but non of the examples supplied on un-minimal, i find you need some colour to break up the monochromism, and accentuate it.
