Topic: Won't wake up

First of all, #! is the best.
When i leave my computer for a few hours, i don't shut it off, i just turn off the monitor.
When i return to the computer i turn on the monitor, but the computer is unresponsive, a black display.
the computer activity light flickers a little, so it has not shut off.

In the power management preferences, i have set both the computer and monitor to never sleep.
In the screensaver preferences it is set to rergard the computer idle after 2 hours, the maximum.
activate the screensaver when idle is unchecked.

how do i wake my computer? i am forced to do a hard restart.
clt-alt-del does nothing.

do you have a Amd processor ?

with my last AMD, it would always do that after long periods and after a few weeks i found out that it was overheating but sadly it was to late and it died.

Have you tried pouring cold water in its face?

Perhaps an air horn next to its ear?

Xiuying, No it is not an AMD, it is an IBM with a P4.

Chives, I admit that I posted this in the wrong area, it was too late to correct so I left it. However your response was juvenile.

I have had similar problems with my laptop, I just don't close the lid on it now. I'll look into it some more though and see if I can give you a hand with it. No promises I can find anything though. Some of the power management issues are difficult to troubleshoot.
