Maybe Philip will switch the CrunchBang search page to use Yahoo too! j/k ![]()
I wonder how this fits in with mozilla, they get money for having google as the default browser, they (or google) can't be happy with this.
I wonder if they may have to move to ice weazel?
but is the MS/Linux hybrid going to be good for the community
lol, true. I wonder what a search for linux turns up.
well on bing:
FSF gives me Family Shari'ah Fund Ltd (FSF) and Football Supporters Federation. google gets it first time
RMS gives me RMS services and Royal Microscopical Society, again google gets it right
'Windows is shit',on bing only three of the first ten hits are about microsoft, google its 10/10.
in the interests of balance:
'google is shit' doesn't seem to bring up any people complaining about google in bing, although google does actually give me one.
I should really have turned off cookies though, last time i searched for ikea, the first hit was a beowulf cluster running linux, using an ikea cabinet as case.

Yahoo is trying to save itself anyway it can right now. As long as It doesn't affect packages I don' t see what the big deal would be.
IIRC MoCo just recently recommended users switching to Bing anyway, because of issues with Google's privacy policy.

Before making the decision to include a Bing powered search engine by default, please refer to bug #1
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1
So on one side, Canonical is supposedly working with Google on their upcoming Chrome/Chromium OS, and on the other it's defaulting to Yahoo search?
I'm not sure how it works in the tech sector, but in some other industries this would be considered whorage. ![]()
Not exactly in my preference, but whatever brings Canonical money so that we can have Ubuntu is good. ![]()
Maybe Philip will switch the CrunchBang search page to use Yahoo too! j/k

scroogle gets my vote. lol. ![]()
or we should do more research into the topic:
http://www.searchtools.com/tools/tools-opensource.html
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_se ch_engines
PS,
think we could have our google searches done from the searchbar, run through http://anonymouse.org/anonwww.html ?

Thats exactly what I was worried about however comical it really is. As for googles privacy issues, I really dont care:
a) I dont have a felony record and I dont do illegal things
b) Big brother has been watching for some time anyway ![]()
