Topic: [SOLVED] Data recovery from a deleted partition, How?

I mistakenly deleted a partition containing around 70 GB of data. I don't care about most of the stuff thats gone except the academic stuff (~6 GB) and music collection (~30 GB). I have already recovered most of the pdf, ole, ... using Foremost. But both Foremost/Scalpel use predefined filetypes which does not include mp3. I don't have the space needed to recover the whole partition. Any suggestions how to recover the mp3s?

When I had a similar problem, Testdisk was suggested. I haven't had time to try it out yet, but it looks promising.

Thanks a lot smile. Very intuitive app! I have already recovered my ogg files. Seems like i will be able to retrieve most data. big_smile

While on the subject, can you suggest apps that do the exact opposite i.e. erase the disk completely to start afresh.

DBAN:

Be careful, iirc DBAN will erase ALL disks connected to your computer.
