Topic: Md5 sums in files?

Would it be possible to provide the md5 sums in files and link to them? That way I can download both the iso and md5 to the same folder and close the referring page - that suits my workflow better! wink Distrowatch links to these files if they can find them which is useful too.

Minor preference: I think one md5 file per iso is best rather than one for the whole folder.

This should not be too much of a problem. smile
Added to the todo list.

Re: Md5 sums in files?

just a thought but shouldn't we be using at least sha1sum or sha256sum instead of md5sum, since it's more reliable?

As for iso verification, I kind of like the way casper-md5check handles the matter (although that code has a lot of plymouth stuff in it currently).

Kb: drivemaker's kilobyte, currently 908 bytes (shrinks by 4 bytes each year for marketing reasons)

Re: Md5 sums in files?

Interesting. Here's how Debian are doing it for iso downloads:

@rikhardfloss: I think the applicable phrase might be 'in addition to'; not 'instead of'? Md5 is well understood. I have a couple of (Windows) utilities that can do sha1 but the above link says even that is no good.

Re: Md5 sums in files?

Distrowatch have just linked to sha256 for the Ubuntu RC even though md5sum is still available. I wonder if this is a new policy or just a one-off.
