It looks like Ubuntu Lucid has its hands on a Catalyst 10.3 package which includes support for Xorg 1.7

Currently, #! 10 and 9.04 do not have any such support. 9.04 it wasn't a big issue because it did not use Xorg 1.7, However CB10 DOES.

I am hoping someone could take this package from their repos (linked in the article), and create a package for our users. Otherwise, we'll likely have to wait till Ubuntu 10.04 comes out for AMD/ATI to release them.
I believe someone from Arch forums has already made one for that distro.

I just noticed on ATI's website that you can now get the 10.3 drivers from them. It says the release date was March 24, 2010.

10.3 still doesn't support Xorg 7.5 though sad

Yes, the 10.3 ATI released is NOT compatible with 7.5, however Ubuntu has a special version that is.
Its almost as if they're getting the 10.4 driver so they can test with 10.04 i guess.
Anyways, if someone knows how to repackage it, we could use it on other distros (arch has already done this in AUR i believe)

So, I have installed 10.3 from the amd site, did what they told me to and rebooted. And then I got a nice black and white screen with a lot of text. So, put back original xorg.conf, killed gdm, started X again and started gdm and everything works as normal. So, that doesn't work yet yikes

Its because 10.3 doesnt support the most recent Xorg.
