Re: New Cairo-compmgr is out for Debian!

how does it compare to xcompmgr?
both in terms of 'weight' and eye candy

Re: New Cairo-compmgr is out for Debian!

As far as eye candy gos it makes xcompmger look like crap!
I think it may be just a little heavier but not enough to matter.
it also has a gui for setting it up the way you like
just right click on the icon in the taskbar and clike preferences.

Re: New Cairo-compmgr is out for Debian!

I'm only testing it in VirtualBox, so not really a fair test, but it seems really buggy.  Using the XFCE release of Statler and tried it with compiz as well.  Compiz seems heaps smoother (except for a bug where I can't see the mouse pointer).  Cairo-compmgr also seemed to prevent conky from displaying.

Re: New Cairo-compmgr is out for Debian!

Hmmm . never had any trouble out of conky
im running openbox i686

Re: New Cairo-compmgr is out for Debian!

Installed and using cairo-compmgr on a RealBox.  Have not had any issues yet.  It keeps Statler just as snappy as without it.  It's remarkable how good this distro is.

Re: New Cairo-compmgr is out for Debian!

I'm finding that right-click on pcmanfm file items is screwy with cairo-compmgr.  It tends to simply open the item instead of bringing up the menu.  Doesn't appear to be the case with thunar.

Re: New Cairo-compmgr is out for Debian!

it's works pretty well here, I did notice the right click bug though, it works fine if you hold down the right button then release on what you want to select.

I say never be complete, I say stop being perfect, I say lets evolve, let the chips fall where they may.

Re: New Cairo-compmgr is out for Debian!

Erm... Any chance of a PPA for Ubuntu? :shifty:

Re: New Cairo-compmgr is out for Debian!

Well. I've managed to install it and it works marvellously well with LXDE and quite well with ROX. Teams up nicely with Trans-Follow.

Are there any other similar projects out there to bring desktop eye candy to those of us who can't seem to get our proprietory video drivers working?
