Topic: will not install

On both my laptop the debian version will not install (i assume this is tied to debian)
It was installing with version 9.04 though i had a few issues

On laptop 1 (an old Sotec) the CD will boot live and the install does not work (the screen turns white and i can ctrl+alt+delete to reboot)
On my C400 (a dell) it does no even live boot, the screen stays dark, and i need to remove the battery.

Any suggestion ? thanks

Wait for the next one perhaps.

What other distros can you report success/failure with?

Re: will not install

have you tried the text install? (though this seems like an issue with your graphics hardware to me)

$sudo apt-get install common-sense

Re: will not install

on both laptop i could install successfully crunchbang 9.04, and REALLY LOVED it

On the C400 i installed several version of (k)ubuntu since the 6.06 lts, and several version of Tinyme (which was first based on PCLinuxOS, and now has another base)
On the Sotec, I also successfully installed TinyMy, and DSL

There is something "special" with the hw of the C400, in that the graphic cards has to steal 11MB from RAM to climb up to 12 MB and support the 1024x768x32 screen. The Sotec does not have this problem
This works well with ubuntu though (and with windows, of course).
It is really with this new version that I am hitting problems.

I will try the text install (though I believe but i am not sure, that I already tried it with no success) and will report.

To wait for the next version is the obvious answer, but i feel concerned that it will not work either unless someone understands there is something wrong here.
