Topic: Crunchbang on a Dell Inspiron 700m
A guy in my church gave a dell latitude craptop that has a fried MOBO. A customer brought in a Dell Inspiron 700m that had a bad HDD. They didn't know it was bad but it is. I took the HDD out of the latitude and put in the Inspiron and loaded Crunchbang on it.
Man, this thing is smooth! This is probably one of the smoothest machines that I have handled recently. I was so hoping that the customer wasn't going to want to do the repair on this laptop and I could pick it up for about $100. My boss called and they want to get a new HDD and reload XP on it. I am let down by that but now I know how well one of these things work with #!. There was a little issue with the wifi but I plugged it in and ran the updates and somehow #! found the driver it needed. I got a little pop up after I ran the updates about the wifi driver.
The only thing that I don't like about this is that the battery is external. I just don't like the way it looks.
