Topic: Old IBM

I love crunchbang, i discover the distro buying the linuxFormat magazine.
Today at school, i was so sick of the old ibm box runing slow on ''Super XP'' So i decided to throw my C.Bang cd in.
OMG... It was like i gave a shot of steroid to the poor thing... The computer responded of a blink of an eye.
There is 20 boxs in the class room, almost  all the students came to look at my machine. they were all stunted.
I wonder why schools keep giving $$$$ to Gate. It makes me made that so many people get influenced and believe that windows is THE THING. And then, they blame the computer for been crap..

Long live Linux : )

Re: Old IBM

Usually schools sign into an X number of years agreement to buy a certain companies computers, and get a subsequent discount.
For example, my highschool was in a 15 year contract with IBM/Lenovo (still is i believe), and so whenever they want new computers / can afford them, they must buy from Lenovo.
I think they get a 20% discount on top of the regular discounts they give for buying bulk amounts. Still, the machines they get can be pretty terrible, and they aren't very balanced, so for video and graphics classes, the school had to go outside of the contract  and buy some of their own machines with proper graphics cards, and additional software (kind of under the table really).
