Topic: KrunchBang Statler!

I dual-boot #! Statler XFCE and sidux KDE.  Well I did until a couple of weeks ago when eventually, some might say inevitably, my sidux KDE installation crashed on an update/upgrade.    Which got me thinking.

Software available in the Squeeze repos is as up to date as I want 99% of the time, but forced unplanned reinstallations due to dodgy updates are definately not good.  So instead of reinstalling sidux into my newly formatted partition 2 i've tinkered with my Statler installation instead (which has a couple of sensitive VMs on it) by putting KDE on top, and now i'm removing/swapping bits and peices to make it a KDE-only thing.

This gives me a chance to try out the OB version of Statler on my spare partition, and a nice new KDE workhorse!  I'm quite pleased about that. I'll call it KrunchBang (copyright Spoovy 2010).  smile

Also - anyone know of any problems I might encounter doing this before I remove too much vital stuff?  I was thinking of disabling the #! repos next full-upgrade for example.

Re: KrunchBang Statler!

By the sounds of things, you might want to go with a debian minimal squeeze install, and add in what you need for KDE.
What are you actually going to be using thats #!?

just call me...

Re: KrunchBang Statler!

I don't think i'll be using anything #!, so I would imagine I can disable the #! repos safely, as per my first post.  Foresee any problems with this?
