Vim with python

It seems like #!9.04 had vim installed with the python omnicomplete compiled into vim. Now on statler I am having trouble getting that to work. I tried compiling my own vim7.2 (./configure --enable-pythoninterp). This still gave me problems with omnicomplete. What happened to the vim that I had before?
