Topic: can't get openoffice 3.2 to blend with the desktop [solved]

hi there again,
i tried with

# Force openoffice.org to use GTK theme
# enable this if you install openoffice
export OOO_FORCE_DESKTOP=gnome

in the autostart.sh file
but nothing change.
i went looking on the forum, and the net,
i tried to ignore the theme issue for a while, but it still bothers me each time
i try to work...
was thinking about maybe i got it installed wrong, but i just installed from the debian unstable repos
any tip?
(it will help me get out of excuses and actually work) big_smile

Try putting that same line 'export OOO_FORCE_DESKTOP=gnome' at the end of the /etc/openoffice/soffice.sh file.

Had the same issue ... did you install OO via Synaptic as i did?
I solved this problem as below:

1. Step
Install OO like described here:
http://crunchbanglinux.org/forums/topic … eorg-debs/

2. Step
# Force openoffice.org to use GTK theme
# enable this if you install openoffice
export OOO_FORCE_DESKTOP=gnome

3. Step
De-Install the "old" OO via Synaptic

Now OO looks just fine...

Re: can't get openoffice 3.2 to blend with the desktop [solved]

I installed via aptitude from the debian unstable repos.
i was thinking about trying the OOo deb install from their site with omns' how-to,
but at the end he uses the same way to force GTK theme... so i can't understand why one
would work and the other one not.

& you shouldn't de-install the old OOo before installing a new one?

oh i tried too to see if it was related to the qtconfig, but any change i did there didn't affect OOo.

edit: besides omns wrote he's using the repos version now in one of those posts about installing with his script.

Re: can't get openoffice 3.2 to blend with the desktop [solved]

I had similar issues when installing 3.2.
In the end my fix was as simple as rebooting I think, or even as simple as logging out and back in again.

You've probably already tried that though, so I'm unable to help except to say that it worked for me. Sorry. ^^

Do you have openoffice.org-gtk installed? It's not installed as a dependency of openoffice.org and needs to be added in separately.

of course, why would i think that i need to install THAT specific package after so many times looking at it in synaptic, if obviously says it's gtk related. (i'm starting to think i am the cause my crunchbang usually goes crunch & bang - sigh - )
LOL big_smile thank u!!
ohh omns, i'll just start to ask u.
wait, maybe there's some way i can tell u ALLLL the little things my #! is not behaving and u just tell me how to get everything fixed? tongue

i'll start writing in the topic title [solved, again by omns lol ]

^ty smile I think I'll add this advice to my blog

Edit: oh and I found a bug in my post install script. It don't think it was installing openoffice properly at all lol
Fixed and openoffice.org-gtk added
