Topic: Marave Text Editor with a Crunchbang Philosophy

I came across this nifty text editor called Marave (http://code.google.com/p/marave/). This is the description for it off of their website:

Inspired by ommwriter and other similar projects, marave (it means "nothing" or "it doesn't matter" in guaraní) aims to be a simple, clean text editor that doesn't distract you from your writing.

    * Clean interface. Most of the time: NO interface

    * Pretty

    * Customizable

You can have a nice background, or just a color. You can have a realtime spellchecker or not. Syntax highlighting or not. You can have background music, keyboard feedback, or silence. Marave will try to be the way you want it to be.

It sounds like the perfect text editor to fit in with the minimalist goal that Crunchbang has. I thought this project might interest some on this forum, so go try it out.

Re: Marave Text Editor with a Crunchbang Philosophy

it's seems pretty cool... I'm trying it out.. thanks for sharing...

edit:
It's a really nice project but it would be great if it could be run non-full-screen, like a widget and open/save as window of thunar was working (it opens an empty window of thunar).

I bookmarked the site to keep an eye on the project, but agree with slapfish. Still, it looks nice for early days :-)

looks pretty cool. reminds me of a widget. i jut use vim or nano. full screen terminal. white on black. zero distractions. vim is so good for getting things done

Re: Marave Text Editor with a Crunchbang Philosophy

Well it is the aim of the app to focus on writing, so if you remove it it is just another text editor tongue

Re: Marave Text Editor with a Crunchbang Philosophy

not remove it, just give the choice to see something else together with what I'm writing whenever I need....
