Topic: Save Conky settings script with Remastersys as backup bootable cd

Hi
#! continues to "just work". big_smile
However, sometimes hardware does not! sad

Yes, I have my Conky as a script saved in a doc, and I can just load it from there; but what about when the hard drive goes south or something.

I've used Remastersys to make both a "backup" with settings and data, and also a "distributable" cd with the Conky srcipt only, no data.

The hard drive went south for some oddball reason but seemed to be functioning, so i formatted it, etc. and reloaded #! from the "distributable cd" and there was everything, (I keep my information/data on a usb flash drive, which is incrementally also moved to an external hard drive).

So.... #! just keeps on working!!

I prefer unsquashing the live system, updating the /etc/skel and resquashing it. It reduces the load of junk and errors I corupt my system with all the time big_smile

I'm so meta, even this acronym

Sounds like a lot of work for backing up a Conky script. hmm

I think I would go with anonymous and backup to a USB drive, or maybe Dropbox. smile

Re: Save Conky settings script with Remastersys as backup bootable cd

I use a 2 Gb USB flash-drive that I have for saving all my scripts to.  The flash-drive I got for a few dollars ... cheap.

2 Gb is plenty of space to save everything.

I always save, then update, as needed, all my scripts ... conkyrc, tint2rc, bashrc, rc-xml, favorite icons and a wallpaper or two.

The USB drive is convenient ... and, I think, easier than setting up Dropbox or some other similar App.
