Topic: Low space in Statler [Solved]

I've installed Statler on a Dell Inspiron B130 laptop with a 60GB hard drive. However, during installation, it woudln't let me use a seperate partition for home (I've been using statler for around a month now). As a result, I have a ridiculously low amount of free space in my /home directory (around 4GB).

#! statler is the only installed OS I have right now, so I know that nothing else is eating up my space.

I was wondering if anyone had a fix for this or if I should try reinstalling statler with a new ISO.

Any and all help is appreciated.

Try installing ncdu and then run "ncdu ~" to see if theres anything in your home folder taking up a lot of space.

Run "df -h" in a terminal and post the output.

Strangely enough, GParted lists /dev/hda1 as being 54.47GB.

Something is definitely weird. If no one else has suggestions, then just delete all the partitions, reinstall Statler and use manual partitioning so you can have a separate /home.

Thanks for all the help.

Everyone pretty much said the same thing: use a liveCD of gparted to set your partitions, and reinstall statler.

However, as it's been like this for more than one install (the last installation, I thought I had gotten an ever-unzipping file, when I actually just ran out of space), I'm going to try Arch. I've wanted to do so, but just haven't had time.


As this is unsolved, but I have no intention of continuing on with it, how should I edit the post topic?

Well, Arch didn't work out as well as I hoped it would.

As for #!, I reinstalled it, and here's the output of df -h:
