Re: Coffee is a food group

Ah, Starbucks. Car payment or Coffee. Rent or a Danish.

And what is that oil slick floating at the top of the cup that looks like the Gulf of Mexico!?!? And what is that soft sediment like stuff at the bottom of the cup!?!? It's like the residue sitting at the bottom of the bucket after you wash your car!

I'll stick to Duncan Donuts, IHOP and gas station "Dirt Water".

The price isn't bad considering some I've heard about here.

Re: Coffee is a food group

I forgot this ... COFFEE  ART !!

I though that was really neat!

Re: Coffee is a food group

Somewhat off-topic: when I last went to buy coffee at the small local natural foods market in town that shall remain nameless I bought some mixed nuts, too.  Took them home: coffee beans into freezer and nuts into a sealed plastic container on the kitchen counter.  A few days later I thought to have a handful of nuts during the middle of the day and upon opening the container was greeted by several small moths that flew up from the nut mixture.  yikes

I've got a couple three cats from a small ranch out in Llano and one's a great mouser, one's about half-lazy and the young one knows the word bug and will hunt, catch and eat any bug in the house -- in fact I haven't seen any since he came here seven years ago so I was surprised to see moths in the mixed nuts.  Not that he would get up there.  wink

To make a short story even longer I tossed them and swore never to return to that store.  neutral

Somewhat back on-topic: I now need a new place to purchase coffee beans in bulk.  lol

OH NO!  That's the first Coffee Horror Story.

So it is obviously not off topic.

I'd take the cat to the store and YELL:  "BUG!" lol

But this means that those nuts were 100 % natural & not chemically protected wink

Re: Coffee is a food group

But . . . were there 'bugs' in the coffee ??

sad  I fail to see the problem.

I know klanger was right -- don't change the fact about the bugs in the food supply, though.

Re: Coffee is a food group

I started getting coffee here.
DoubleShot Coffee Company
For us in the Southern USA it's a pretty cool business.  They have suscriptions for weekly or monthly coffee.  All of their products are organic beans roasted in house.  I'm sure up on the west coast (seattle) there are better places though.

Re: Coffee is a food group

In this town there is a small 'ol fashioned Diner . . . the Owl Cafe.

They have to best coffee ... A Dark Roast Pinon Blend  (Pine Nuts)

They even package an, already ground up, version for sell.

I went there for lunch.  big_smile  Unbelievably smooth.

Say what!! And you didn't invite us?
That sounds delicious.

@rstrcogburn - I'll have to look for a place near here like that.  It looks good.

Re: Coffee is a food group

Well, I just had my first Bolivian coffee - Very Nice.

My friend gave me a 250gr bag of Café Royal from Café Royal, how about that huh.  smile

It's dark, it's rich and it's very good ... just the smell when I cut the bag open was great!

It wasn't as strong as I thought it would be after he said it was stronger than Argentinian coffee.  Not true, I normally drink (as I said before) Sensaciones - Torrado Intenso - made by Bonafide here in Argentina.  very strong coffee, without the burnt taste, smell, the way I like it.  big_smile

But this Café Royal is a very nice coffee indeed.  If you like a dark robust roast ... this is a contender!

[scratch-n-sniff]Café Royal[/scratch-n-sniff] <<--- someday that will work  lol

Interested in buying some in the US and no this is NOT spam, I have no interest in this and make no money off it.  As a Coffee lover I thought I'd give you that link as it showed up when I Googled "Café Royal" - Nuff said.  big_smile

Gee, I am not so sure that Bonafide is Argentinian like that site says after reading that the Chilean food group Empresas Carozzi is selling it's stores.

It's a case of "who owns what" these days! Companies I thought were Canadian, 'were' - but were sold to the Japanese who sold it to a US company that sold it to a Korean company that sol... and it goes on and on.  ??

The only Starbuck's coffee I ever had was on an plane - I gave it back and asked for tea.  Take it from there - my opinion.

I have the baby one, sissors, blade, nailfile/screwdriver with tweezers and toothpick.  Don't remember how long I've had it, seems like forever, but I saw one in a window today at 79 pesos (US $20.00) - seems a bit steep for me but who knows.  I have it in a big heavy duty keyring so as not to loose it.  I like the one shown here, next week when I go by that store I'll check the price.

What is that little HOOK thing for? My wife said to pull brains out through the nose - she watches way too much CSI!  lol
