Topic: RDP files and remote desktop connections

I was wondering which program to make remote desktop connections, using files with a RDP extension.

In Windows 7 I am using the Windows default remote desktop connection program, but searching the synaptics package manager, I could not find something simular.
It would be nice if I could use the same .rdp files to make my connections from the Crunchbang Linux platform.
Who can give me a hint in the right direction?

Important for me is that I do not want to install a complete additional Gnome or KDE desktop environment using XFCE, so packages like krdc seems not like an option?

Re: RDP files and remote desktop connections

I can not remove my topic, so this way I would like to tell I have found a solution by the package Remmina-XFCE with it's dependencies Remmina and some (small) libraries.

RDP files are not recognised, I had to add new bookmarks in Remmina, but connection is fast and stable.

Re: RDP files and remote desktop connections

Thanks. I was looking for the exact same thing- or similar question, and so far Remmina has been the solution (I don't know what is similar to it however, so maybe there are other apps that do the same thing but better, I do know VNC is a pain and too slow and cumbersome so far, with my limited knowledge and experience, to set up in a more efficient way)!

Re: RDP files and remote desktop connections

I've been using rdesktop to remotely log in from my #! desktop into the Windows laptop in my workplace (where I'm forced to use things Linux-unfriendly things like Outlook, Juniper VPN, Visio, etc.).  The application isn't in the default build, but it is in the repo.
