Topic: Hello Crunchbangers!

Hi all,  I am new to the crunchbang scene but not new to Linux and Debian. Currently I use sidux as my distro, and looking for something light and clean as I feel kde4 just isn't quite there yet.

Re: Hello Crunchbangers!

Thanks anonymous one, and looking to testing this build out

Re: Hello Crunchbangers!

Welcome to #!Crunchbang and the #!Forums.

Either version of #! is pretty light ... Xfce or Openbox.

The Xfce desktop in #! is NOT built over a Gnome-base, as it is in so many other distros.  This in itself 'bogs down' Xfce
In #! Xfce is a 'stand-alone' desktop ... as it should be.

Making Xfce light and fast.

Personally, I use #! Statler w/Openbox and AMD-64 . . . very light and super fast.

I got a Thinkpad T42 and looking to make this old machine rock. KDE4 tends to bog it down some
