Topic: General/Other Linux forum?
I think we need a forum for general Linux topics that aren't necessarily related to #!.
That's uh, pretty much it lol.
Have a nice day!

You mean like user environments and general tips and tricks? We also discuss more general aspects of other distros in the off-topic and general chat area.
Ah ok, I didn't think about Tips and Tricks. It seems to me more like a "how to" kind of forum, but I see your point.
I'm not sure if other distros should really go in the Off-Topic forum, though.
I always thought the off-topic section of any forum was more like a get-together in a country kitchen where everyone could have a say; everyone could broach just about any subject without fear of ridicule or remorse; everyone could join in [or not] as it suited them at the moment. I always based my personal decision of the solidity and solidarity of a forum by the quality and character of the conversations in the off-topic section.
This one is varied. To be sure. I think that tossing in a conversation regarding a new distribution or operating system should be acceptable and welcome as much as talking about, well, talking about new babies. ![]()
The general talk forum covers this pretty well. I prefer less rather than more forums.
In addition the possibly low frequency of "Other Linux" threads wouldn't justify a seperate forum section.
mmk. All valid points. I hadn't thought about whether or not there are even enough threads about general Linux topics to justify a new section. Thanks for discussing!
