Topic: My experienc with statler openbox

I installed statler openbox i686 as my primary os, and here is my personal.....and again I'm saying my personal thoughts and experiences:
-there is only 2 dark themes and Shiki-Statler-Dark is buggy and need more work (when opening a menu the nonfunctional parts are not visible-I hope you understand me)
-in my opinion the underdevelopment (near approaching stable release) pcmanfm 0.97 is way better than thunar, at least for the openbox version (I don't believe thunar still don't support multiple tabs).I have 3 usb harddisks(one 1 Terabyte and 2x320 GB,all of them nearly full) always connected to my laptop, thunar is way slow on mounting my HDs while pcmanfm do it instantaneously, also copy and move from and into those harddisks is slow and sluggish with thunar (I don't why is that, or may be that pcmanfm now utilizes Udisks).
-When opening any window full screen shouldn't cover the tint2 panel.
- a system monitor is very essential even in alpha edition
-not urgent but a music player could be included next time (interesting project is deadbeef music player (http://deadbeef.sourceforge.net/)  ,very light on resources and ram)
-I do prefer stripped down edition like crunchbang lite (with all the codecs and plugins +some comand line apps)
-right now I'm investigating an annoying problem(my laptop fan is spinning all time ). I will post later anything about this issue.
-as with crunchbang 9.04.01, the laptop volume keys are not functioning, so I have to use the hard way ( http://crunchbanglinux.org/forums/topic … -buttons/)
that's all for now. all in all this alpha is way better that the first one, and stable also.
Very Very thanks to Corenominal for the time and effort to provide this alpha

Thats normal behavior; running an application fullscreen means it covers the entire screen. And if you meant maximized windows, well they don't cover the panel.

+1, bring back htop at least to the Openbox version.

Re: My experienc with statler openbox

I actually meant maximized windows and in openbox edition it covers the panel.

Re: My experienc with statler openbox

I tried it and the panel is not covered. Check your tint2rc file and change the value for strut_policy to follow_size if its not already.

I don't think I've experienced that. Does it happen with all windows, or certain ones?

Regarding your OP, I think that the application list just isn't finalized (this is Alpha, after all). I agree with a system monitor; I really like the Gnome system monitor.

thanks anonymous. that did the trick. it was set to strut_policy = none.

yeah.it's actually happened to all windows.......may be it because I removed thunar and installed pcmanfm...don't know

Re: My experienc with statler openbox

Actually, this appears to be a bug in statler.  I can reproduce this by simply moving the panel.  If I use the GUI config tool to change the location of the panel, strut_policy is changed to none.  I've tried this three times to be sure.  Now... How do I file the bug? (Or see if it's already been filed.  Google doesn't turn up anything.)

Re: My experienc with statler openbox

Sounds like the bug may be upstream?  As far as I know, Corenominal isn't involved in the tint2conf development team.

while ( ! ( succeed = try() ) );
