Topic: Hello!
I am saying hi, and verifying that i am not a spambot. :-)
I just installed CrunchBang 10 Statler alpha2 on my laptop. I use Archlinux on my desktop, but I was wanting to swap up the distro on my laptop. I kept hearing about the new crunchbang alpha on identica, and I remembered being impressed with crunchbang from back when I was distrohopping. I was even further impressed that this alpha was to be based on debian instead of ubuntu.
so I downloaded the iso, and then attempted to use unetbootin on my desktop to "burn" the image onto my 1gb usb drive, however this was unbootable (I probably did not do something right). So I wound up burning image to a cd-r and got started.
Could not install from the live environment, or I could not figure out how to. So I installed using the text installer, which worked great. It even detected my Intel wifi chipset, and installed the drivers I need (after it prompted and asked me if I wanted to do so--even though the prompt said i had to provide them, I guess they were built in).
After install, my keyboard was not right. I had a lot of funny looking symbols where the @ sign should be, and after a quick look at the forums I saw this was common, and I changed my keyboard from gb to us in /etc/keyboard/default (I think that is the location), and after a reboot all is well.
Now...I still have not encountered any bugs, and I am very impressed with this just being an alpha release!
Jon
