Re: #! CrunchBang Linux Desktop Screenshots

That is a very nice desktop you achieved xapU7.  Can you give details?  Is that adeskbar?  What icon set did you use for that bar?  I really like your conky, mind sharing it here or in the conky script thread?

I view KDE like I view snow. It looks fun and marvelous, it's fun to play in, but after a while I just want someone to take it all away.

Clicky the piccy!

The wallpaper was custom-made by myself (took literally five minutes in the Gimp), and that's Tint2 and Trayer at the bottom.

Yeah, this is just version one, I've still got things to do:
Continue messing around with Conky
Put a terminal on the desktop
Edit GTK theme

But yeah, liking it so far big_smile

Askeptykal,

Would you be so kind to post your tintrc file?  I am trying to do something similar with my tint, but I am having not too much success...

You did a lot of work pulling all of that together and it shows.  If I had a netbook/mini I would want it to look as slick and sleek as yours.

I have been using that for almost 2 days now, creepy that it is similar to yours.  How did you get bmpanel transparent, did you make the panel itself transparent via xcompmgr or did  you modify the theme some how?

I view KDE like I view snow. It looks fun and marvelous, it's fun to play in, but after a while I just want someone to take it all away.

Yeah, That is quite scary! The background is from interfacelift.com (which everyone should use - it's free and awesome).

Getting BMpanel transparent was pretty easy:

There's a theme that's installed by default called crunchbang-transparent

So if you modify your Openbox's autostart.sh (I'm sure you know how to do this?)
and change the line

bmpanel crunchbang-default &

to

bmpanel crunchbang-transparent &

Easy as pie - and looks great.

Pretty simple, I haven't really played around with it that much. I really like this wallpaper, though.

Re: #! CrunchBang Linux Desktop Screenshots

kbang. The crunchbang-transparent bmpanel theme is in omn's 9.04 artwork package in the crunchbang main repositories.

Re: #! CrunchBang Linux Desktop Screenshots

Wow, most of these are awesome. Makes me wonder if I'm the only one that's satisfied with the default #! theme. I guess I'm either a) easily pleased or b) not very creative. tongue

Realized that now.

Do you want me to send you a copy of the transparent theme kbang?

Nope I grabbed omns' original deb package, it has the theme.

I was satisfied with the default looks for a long time, and would still be, but this urge to customize and personalize becomes sometimes so irresistible... In any case, #! is by default the most stylish distro I have seen. (Linux Mint is pretty slick too, but in another way.)

I never use smilies, but there are exceptions that prove the rule wink

Might I recommend starting a fresh, new topic/thread on that?  It might get a bit cramped in here as that topic can grow quite large on it's own.
