@Sector11 & friTTe - I am SO PSYCHED about the new release!  I ran the upgrade but I think I did it too many times because I have about 4 sets of the same wallpaper now lol.

I'm not sure I'm completely happy with the last two offerings but I gotta get em out there and maybe someone else will be inspired to try something (or throw up and run away lol).  I do like the way that last one looks the way you have it Sector11.  I thought maybe it should have been busier at the top and the text spaced farther apart or something.  Well anyway here's this:

4 sets of wallpapers?  Where?

Hey!  I like those ... I was about to ask what the difference was when I saw the Debian genie coming out of the bottle  .)

Opinion: I would heve made the text a little darker on that one to compliment the "Debian Logo"
But then when it comes to art, I don't know which end of the brush to hold.  big_smile

Do you use GIMP or Inkscape? I lost a GIMP menu and have no idea how to get it back  .... one of the two that open by default when you fire it up.

Some good ones in here, would be great to have at least some of them in the themes package

No, lol there are not 4 sets of wallpaper.  There are a couple of new ones in the new release of Statler.  I just somehow installed them 4 times.

Thanks for the idea about making the text darker, I will do that if I get to it some time.  lol

I use GIMP and I am no artist (ssshhhhhhh!) either.  I just play around until I think something looks interesting and "SPLAT!", it ends up here.  I'm afraid my stuff might be a bit too dark and out there in the Twilight Zone for a lot of people.  cool

I reworked this one a little and added the new logo:

Hey, if you have time could you make me one of those frames you use?  My screen is unfortunately set to 832x624 because...well I don't know why but I can't seem to change it.  Anyway I prefer to use a different size of wallpaper and actually your size looks pretty good on here so if you could do that I would sure appreciate it.  The actual specs of my monitor are 1366x768 but I don't have the option to set it to that.  I would at least like to get to 1024x768 but can't do that either, oh well.  tongue

Oh ok... installed 4 time  smile  Got ya, as well as the two new ones.  As you have probably figured by now I like DARK wallpapers.  smile

Sure... I can make you a frame.  Post a screenshot with nothing running except your conky and tint2 panel ... never mind I just grabbed your last screenshot from the Dec thread ... but I see it is: 1024x768

I'll try with a 832x624 as I need to make the frames to allow for your 2 conkys to show and your bar on the bottom.

We'll do this until we get it right.  smile

Re: My New Wallpaper

Try this and let's see if your conkys and panel fit in the boxes.

It's only a test - not finished.

http://dl.dropbox.com/u/16070765/thmb_evlc_frame_1.png

#2 - better corners

http://dl.dropbox.com/u/16070765/thmb_evlc_frame_1.png

#3 - the template

http://dl.dropbox.com/u/16070765/thmb_evlc_frame_1_template.png

Create an image: 1024x768 pixels - and paste the template over it IF the boxes work for your conkys.

Re: My New Wallpaper

S11 - Thanks, I LOVE it!  Ok ignore my question about how to get the wallpaper right because you answered it in the above post.  Here is my first scrot:

http://ompldr.org/tNmlwMw

I have to come up with a new wallpaper now for this whole template situation.  lol

[edit]  Here is another scrot.  I came across this wallpaper and the cat in it looks exactly like my cat that just died so not to be morbid but I had to use it and it's a great picture on it's own without my back-story.  smile

http://ompldr.org/tNmlwbQ

Does this screenshot look ok or is it an odd resolution?  ^

I opened it full, it looks GREAT!
What a nice tribute to your cat.

I gave you the 2 because you can use the full one as a wallpaper with a textured background, and depending on what "colour" you have choosen for your screen the "template" will show that colour. (mine is: Black)

But now you can add things with "invisible" background to the full one like - just for fun:

Have fun, glad I could help!

Maybe try Windows>Dockable Dialogues (or Recently Closed Docks)?

Re: My New Wallpaper

When I saw this awesome Conky in the screenshots section (loukingjr) I had to give it a try.  S11, I used one of your fantastic templates, reversed it, removed the bottom logo and pasted my wallpaper on it.  I have to tweak it a little still but here it is so far:

[coming soon...SPLAT!]

http://ompldr.org/tNmlzMw

The wallpaper is a little off on the bottom but I didn't know the dimensions.  It's not a new wallpaper but I will be working on one.

Copied that to a text file - id was a mute point I had to reinstall today.  But I'm foever doing that and could never figure it out.  Proof that we always complicate the simple things.

Recently Closed Docks did it!

THANKS!

How about this one ... if I'm right it will look like the conky "hardware" will still be hanging on to the top and bottom bars.

http://dl.dropbox.com/u/16070765/thmb_evlc_frame_3_template.png

There is an invisible space above that top bar on the right.
Hope it works.

Send me an email I'll send you all the "frame" parts I have.
And I'm not going to try it, this is YOU!  Post it in the cony thread.

I like it, I like how the "conky hardware" seems to hang from the frame.  big_smile

Re: My New Wallpaper

Looks great, ElderV.
Your transparent Flux Menu works well with it, as well as SR-71's frames.

Re: My New Wallpaper

I did a little darker thing with more transparency and the scrolling news.  I could still use those parts S11 If you still have them hanging around.  Would you mind PM them?  My bars don't look as nice as yours.  tongue

I like that.  I have no idea how to attach a file to  PM or where I could put it for you teo get it.  sad

Re: My New Wallpaper

@Sector11 - I don't know why but that "Claiming Ownership" moon wallpaper just hit me lol!  That is just great!

I don't know what is wrong with me, I must have had my head up my a** because I don't know how to PM the frames and stuff either.  lol

@Gslob - Thanks.  I really admire your themes as you know.  By the way how do you change the background in Scrotwm and make it stay(not that it matters that much since you hardly ever see it but just in case lol).

@axel668 - Thanks man.  Sorry I took so long to respond.  I didn't really know how to respond but that is a very nice compliment thank you.

Well, the #! is really small.  lol
We should really push that.  Linux is Linux, countries are countries, and #! owns the Moon!  hahahaha

One cannot send files via PM  ...  Especially 5.5MB worth.  I should trim back to just essentials and post them in a Building Frames thread maybe?

It's all stuff I found on the web and "modified" for my use ... excuse me ... our use.  smile

Re: My New Wallpaper

@ElderV
Apologies for going off topic here, but you asked, so....

It's pretty easy to get a wallpaper during ScrotWM's startup if you're  launching it via startx/xinitrc, but I assume you're using GDM to start ScrotWM (judging from our previous Ratpoison conversation).

This should work *in theory* with GDM ... I haven't tested it out yet, though

first install feh (image app that displays wallpaper) from your repos

then, make a simple script and place it anywhere you want (~/bin for example) with the feh command in it, as well as other stuff you want to have starting with Scrotwm, as well as the scrotwm launch command itself.  Here's an example. I've also included some apps that one would launch on a typical #! install. Change the path to the wallpaper as you see fit.

#!/bin/bash

xfce4-power-manager &
feh --bg-scale /home/elderv/images/wallpapers/nudesupermodel.png &
setxkbmap us &
thunar --daemon &
synclient TapButton1=1 &
xscreensaver -no-splash &

scrotwm

give it whatever name you want (scrotwmstart.sh, for example) and be sure you make the script executable.

then, go to your /usr/share/xsessions and open up your scrotwm.desktop file in a text editor. Make a backup of it's contents (just in case this plan doesn't work). Then, look for the "Exec=" line, and make it point to the script you've just made above. if that doest work, revert the entry to it's default, and then add a line below it called "TryExec=path/to/scrotwmstart.sh"

of course, if you don't like the idea of running a script to startup a WM, you can just save the script without the last "scrotwm" line, and launch SrcotWM like you always do (without any wallpaper) and then launch the script manually (via dmenu).

Let me know how it goes.
